Infographic: Julio-Claudian Dynasty of the Roman Empire
The Julio-Claudian Dynasty (27 BCE - 68 CE) was the first ruling dynasty of the Roman Empire, founded by Augustus and encompassing the reigns of Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, and Nero. It marked the transition from the Roman Republic to the imprerial system, with emperors drawn from the interconnected Julian and Claudian families. The dynasty ended with the death of Nero in 68 CE, leading to the chaotic Year of the Four Emperors (69 CE) and the rise of the Flavian Dynasty.
